WALDO IS FIXING UP, LOOKING GOOD

In the past there have been many complaints with the park at Waldo. Some have got their
campers stuck because of it being so wet. The bathrooms were not clean or adequate. The roof
leaked on the main pavilion. Some have had electrical problems. The park was not safe
because of Wasp nest and there have been snakes in the bathroom. The park looked bad from
the entrance on US301. When we had our covered dish/pot-luck meals there, there were not
sufficient tables or chairs to accommodate our group.

But, there are major renovations going on at Waldo’s Dixieland music campground. The roads
have been paved. A new metal roof is being installed on the main pavilion. Bathroom(s) are
being upgraded. Electricity is being upgraded. Permanent residents have been moved to the
back row. The old flee-market next to the restaurant has been torn down. The park is under
the management of the owners, Gregg and Michelle Griffis and the restaurant is under new
management as well (Phyllis Crews).

It appears that the new management is making the campground a more pleasant place for us to
meet. Be advised that with this kind of renovation there will be an increase in the camping
fees. I am told the new camping fees will be $ 21.00 a night for NFBA. I praise the efforts of
Gregg and Michelle in making it a better place to camp. (Mack, the Chaplain)
